Marketing difficult products

Some products are harder to market, difficult to talk about. The approach needs to be clever and different.

P&G some years ago started Being Girl with a different approach to reach girls and have them talk about their periods. Their site is an example on how to reach people in a different manner and have them talking about topics that are difficult to share.

Hello Flo has created a commercial that is very creative in selling tampons and a membership program at the same time.

Sarah’s Secret Society, another company, targets a different audience and fosters a dialogue from people with urinary incontinence. They created the Video Diaries to show how to live a full life with incontinence.

No matter the product or how difficult it is to talk about it, there is always a clever way to market to your audience. Take calculated risks and see the results.

Commercial With Emotional Connection

Every time we talk about consumer psychology and NeuroMarketing we talk about the importance of creating an emotional connection with your audience. It can be done in any touch point with your audience.
Here is a commercial in Thailand from a telecommunication conglomerate called True that did an amazing job in creating an emotional connection on a low budget film.
It is spectacular!

Fast food chain with a brain.

Take a look at Chipotle’s new commercial.

It’s being called “the most beautiful, haunting infomercial you’ll ever see.”

It’s being called “the most beautiful, haunting infomercial you’ll ever see.”

Also kudos to the company that back in July, for example, the company announced plans to become the first US restaurant chain to strip its menu items of all genetically engineered ingredients.

The company that targets Millenials has chosen other media outlets to promote its brand other than Tv

Consistency in Business

Consistency leads to familiarity that leads to likability.

So, if there is no consistency in your marketing, there will be scarcity. Here is another reason why social media marketing is crucial in any marketing strategy.
Let’s take a look at what McDonald’s does offline to create consistency:

You can be on the other side of the country or around the world and when you see the Golden Arches, you know exactly what the food will taste like. There might be an independent restaurant with better food next door, but most people will never know because they’ll choose McDonald’s.

McDonald’s is the safe choice. It became that way through consistency, delivering a similar experience every time. McDonald’s spends millions of dollars a year taste testing individual restaurants to ensure the food tastes the same way in California as it does in New York as it does in England. All new suppliers are put through a rigorous process to ensure the products they produce conform to McDonald’s exacting specifications. That food is going to be consistent, something Burger King has never figured out.

There are many ways we can create consistency in our marketing efforts. Here are a few ideas: Send messages on the same day of the week, post on social networks daily, post weekly videos, repeating key concepts on social networks, blog posts and videos.

Of course there are many more but the key point here is for you to understand that people buy from people they like and for you to be liked you need to become familiar to them and the way to do that is through consistency. So, instead of saying you tried something and it didn’t work, try a few more times. likable

Christmas is over but Santa has a big problem

Even Santa has to re-think his business.

Now that the holidays are over… you ate, you rested and spent time with loved ones, it is time to go back to business.

Let’s take a minute and think about Santa for a second, since Christmas is still fresh on our minds.

Santa has been in business for a long time and since I hear no complaints from children, we can assume he has a healthy business.

Now, Santa has a seasonal business so he must be careful and work very hard during a specific time of the year.

When it comes to manufacturing his toys he faces brutal competition coming from China. He cannot pay his elves such low wages. This type of unfair competition makes his work even harder.

How many reindeer does he have? 7? Have you checked the price of hay lately? It is through the roof and he has a very big route to cover.

When it comes to memorabilia and places to meet Santa to deliver the list, well, we can get most of it online at very cheap prices and send the list by e-mail or just get an app for that. It is almost as if we could replace Santa.

It is not a pretty scenario is it?

I’m sure Santa will be able to thrive and survive despite the challenges. What about your business?

All of us, including Santa have seen drastic changes in the market, in consumer behavior and in the perception of value people have of our businesses.

There is either a lot more competition out there or more technology to replace what we do. Every day we need to make a lot more effort to get people’s attention.

Not a pretty picture.

There is a huge need for you to not only use the beginning of this year to plan and craft a well crafted market plan for your business but also to think about fine tuning your positioning or in some cases even re-invent yourself.

We all need some fine tuning in our position if we want to be in business for the next five years.

Yes, it is going to involve some changes (oops, I just wrote a word marketers don’t use, because people don’t like it), some work, (oops, another one) and some money. (ai, ai, ai)

The truth is, with changes in the economy and consumer behavior, you have to stop fooling yourself that there is some magic or software out there to fix things. Take charge of your life and business. You and only you can change the outcome for better.

You need to take action and do what is necessary or you will see your business vanish from this planet.

Have in mind that I do wish you the best year ever, but it is not going to be great if you don’t do what you have to do.
